He was magnificent, playing the part with great gusto and with eyes shut thus not making much use of the music which lay on the floor in front of him. His enthusiasm was enormous – a great showman!

Arturo Serna, faultless throughout, chose workable but achievable tempi allowing the orchestra to perform to it's best. The strings showed their strength with valuable secure support being shown by leader Rachel Burrough.

Arturo Serna is a professional cellist, conductor, and teacher based in the South West of England. He enjoys an exciting portfolio career and is the principal conductor of the Exeter Symphony Orchestra, the Dorset County Orchestra and the Orchestra of the University of Bath. He also regularly conducts the Bruton Choral Society and has been invited by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to conduct their 'Rusty and Not So Rusty Musicians Day' at the Wiltshire Music Centre.

 

Arturo is an experienced educator with a long trajectory of pupil's successes in exams, competitions and auditions. He is also a performer, regularly giving concerts as a soloist and recitals with his wife, pianist Ana Laura Manero.
